Aware Breast Self-Exam Kit

The FDA has recently approved the Aware BSE kit as an aid in Breast Self Examination (BSE). We believe this kit will help make it much easier to conduct BSE each month. It is designed to arm you with the facts, and therefore, remove the fear. The kit comes with easy illustrations, which will give you the confidence to do it right. Today we know that the best chance of curing cancer is to detect it early.

THE BREAST SELF EXAMINATION KIT CONTAINS:

  • The Aware™ Pad - which makes breast self-exam easy and convenient to do. This unique pad increases your sense of touch by reducing friction between your fingers and breast. You will be amazed by how sensitive your fingers will now become. The Pad consists of two plastic sheets with liquid sealed in between and works in the same manner as soap and water, but it is not necessary to be in the shower. The Aware™ Pad clings lightly to your skin. When you place your fingers on the Aware™ Pad and press firmly against the Aware™ Pad, your fingers will glide smoothly across your breast.

  • Breast Self Examination Video - Simple and quick video which makes BSE easy and gives you the confidence to do it correctly. This unique video gives you step by step instruction on how to conduct BSE Properly. It takes less than five minutes to watch and you will be comfortable in doing this yourself.

  • Helpful resources of organizations to call if you need additional information including: a reminder card for monthly BSE, mammogram and clinical breast exams.- In addition to the pad and video, there is also an easy to follow instruction guide (if you prefer to the video). There are additional materials and resources to support you.

Breast Cancer is a subject that can be scary, but we are hoping to make you "aware" and provide you with the ability to gather information and obtain further knowledge on this subject.

It is important that you understand three necessary components of a comprehensive breast-screening program, which include:

  • Breast self-examination
  • Regular clinical breast exams
  • Mammograms

Our website has been designed to be your breast cancer link. We will guide you on how to find pertinent information, articles, books, organizations, and chat rooms, where you can expand your understanding, share and obtain information with others, and be able to take control of your life.

Early Detection is your Best Protection

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for one out of three cancer diagnosis in the U.S. Unfortunately, every woman is at risk, as over 70% of women diagnosed have no family history of breast cancer. Currently, there is no way to prevent breast cancer. Therefore, finding breast cancer early is key. Early detection improves the chances that breast cancer can be located, diagnosed and treated successfully. Survival rates are as high as 97% when found early. Therefore the importance of early detection through breast self-examination, regular clinical breast exams and periodic mammograms cannot be overemphasized.

Most Breast Problems are found by women themselves

Studies have shown that women themselves have found most breast problems. This speaks to the power that each woman can play in her own health. However, a Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is not a replacement for regular medical visits and periodic mammography. All three steps are important to finding breast cancer early.
